About Dr Aneez D.B. Ahmed (阿尼兹医生)

The International Centre for Thoracic Surgery (ICTS) is led by Medical Director and Senior Consultant Thoracic Surgeon, Dr Aneez D.B. Ahmed, a medical practitioner with over 20 years of experience in thoracic surgery, specialising in robotic thoracic surgery and thoracic oncology. ICTS operates at Mount Alvernia Hospital, Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, and Farrer Park Hospital, ensuring accessible and specialised thoracic care.

Dr Aneez completed his cardiothoracic training at the National University Hospital (NUH), Singapore, and subsequently earned his Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Before establishing his private practice, he served as the Head of Service for Thoracic Surgery at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), Singapore. In addition to his private practice, he is a Visiting Consultant at NUH and Singapore General Hospital (SGH), proctoring future robotic thoracic surgeons.

Recognised as a pioneer in robotic thoracic surgery, Dr Aneez became the first in the ASEAN region to obtain a Level III Certificate Specialist Training in Robotic Thoracic Surgery from the European College of Cardiothoracic Surgery (EACTS). He has undergone extensive specialised training in robotic thoracic surgery through sabbaticals in Europe and the United States. His expertise has positioned him as a known trainer for thoracic surgeons across ASEAN and South Asia, and he is the immediate past President of the Robotic Surgical Society of Singapore (RS3).

At ICTS, Dr Aneez and his team are committed to providing minimally invasive solutions for thoracic conditions. His dedication to the fusion of technology and surgery is driven by a mission to enhance patient outcomes. Robot-assisted surgery offers enhanced precision, control, and safety, all while reducing recovery time, minimising scarring, and lowering the risk of complications compared to traditional open surgery.

Dr Aneez D.B. Ahmed continues to push the boundaries of thoracic surgery, shaping the next generation of robotic thoracic surgeons while delivering exemplary patient care.

Robotic Thoracic (Lung & Chest) Surgery

As the pioneer robotic thoracic surgeon in the ASEAN region, Dr Aneez is a strong advocate for minimally invasive robotic lung surgery in the treatment of lung cancer and other thoracic conditions, including thymomas and oesophageal disorders. He is the President of the Robotic Surgical Society of Singapore (RS3) and plays a pivotal role in training the next generation of robotic thoracic surgeons across ASEAN and Southeast Asia.

A Vice President of the Southeast Asian Thoracic Society and Board Member of the Asian Thoracic Academy for Thoracic Surgical Education, Dr Aneez is deeply committed to improving surgical precision through the integration of technological advancements like robotic-assisted surgery. By using tiny incisions, robotic surgery offers faster recovery, minimal scarring, and a reduced risk of infection, ensuring optimal outcomes for patients.

With a track record of more than 1,000 successful robotic thoracic procedures, Dr Aneez continues to drive progress in robotic surgical techniques. As a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (USA) and a member of the Society of Robotic Surgeons (SRS), he remains actively involved in research and development, refining methods to expand the applications of robotic surgery in thoracic care. His approach is patient-centric, tailoring each treatment plan to the unique needs of his patients for optimal long-term health outcomes.

Commitment to Advancing Thoracic Surgery

Dr Aneez’s practice is defined by pushing the boundaries of thoracic surgery to deliver quality, patient-centred care for his patients. With a deep-rooted passion for the field, he has pioneered breakthroughs in Chest Wall Resection and Reconstruction, including performing the world’s first 3D-printed polymer ribcage reconstruction—a medical milestone.

Beyond the operating theatre, Dr Aneez is a dedicated educator. Since 2010, he has led the Advanced Thoracic Nursing Course (ATNC) at TTSH, an annual training program that has equipped nurses from across Asia with complex thoracic care skills.

Dr Aneez is an active figure in the global thoracic surgery community. He serves as the Thoracic Domain Board Member of the Asian Society of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery (ASCVTS) and is the current vice president of the South East Asian Society of Thoracic Surgery (SEATS).

Recognised for his expertise in minimally invasive thoracic surgery, Dr Aneez is frequently invited to speak at leading medical conferences and surgical workshops across the region.
